The Fridtjof Nansen Ski race

The 2013 Fridtjof Nansen Ski Race has been canceled due to low snow and icy conditions.



Sponsored by Lasker Jewelers.


Organized by the Chippewa Valley Nordic ski team in remembrance of Fridtjof Nansen, who once tried to ski to the North Pole. Nansen was the original First Wave skier.

All races are Freestyle. Lengths are to be determined depending on trail conditions.

Divisions

  • Middle School - Awards for top 3 male and female skiers.

  • High School - Awards for top 3 female skiers.

  • Collegiate club - Awards for top 3 male and female skiers.

  • Citizen open - Citizen open division is open to everyone (even coaches!). Awards to Top M/F only, no age divisions.

  • The program also includes a Nordic Combined event held in conjunction with the North American Ski Jumping Championships. This race is not open to the public.


    Cost: $20 for Citizen open skiers, $10 for Collegiate, and $5 for Middle and High School skiers. Please make checks to Chippewa Valley Nordic. The Kids Race is free.

    There is no pre-registration.


    Tower Ridge requires a $6/vehicle daily parking pass. Trails will be open to the public during the race.

    Hot Chocolate, Chili, and cookies will be available after the race for participants in the chalet at the trail head.
